Sanxingdui Has the Colour You Imagine

“三星堆的颜色是充满想象力的，它可以是任何颜色。“中国非物质文化遗产青神竹编传承人——陈岚这样说。

"Sanxingdui's colour is as an imaginary existence, in truth it can be any colour." Chen Lan, heir of Qingshen Bamboo Weaving, a renowned part of China's intangible cultural heritage, shared his view of Sanxingdui's colour with us.

陈岚是三星堆的忠实粉丝，一直关注着发掘的进程，“三星堆既是我们古蜀文化的代表，也是中华文化的重要组成部分。”

As something of a Sanxingdui enthusiast, Chen Lan has kept a close eye on the excavation progress at Sanxingdui: "Sanxingdui is not only arepresentative of our ancient Shu Kingdom's culture, but also an important part of Chinese culture as a whole."

“因为我们中华民族，特别是四川人，自古就是热爱生活的。“陈岚认为，“既然热爱生活，那么三星堆的文物有可能是五彩的。”

"This is because we Chinese people, especially Sichuan people, have truly enjoyed life since ancient times." Chen Lan said, "And since we enjoy life, Sanxingdui cultural relics may be joyfully colourful."

对于此次“幻彩三星堆”的创作，他采用了金色配白色的篾条编制三星堆纵目面具，“我觉得纵目面具有千里眼的寓意，我们应该像这个文物一样，放眼世界，要走得更远，要把四川文化传承和发扬，让更多的人能够了解我们的三星堆。“

For this 'Colourful Sanxingdui' re-creation project, Chen Lan used thin gold and white bamboo strips to weave his version of Sangxingdui's Vertical-eyed Bronze Mask. He explained: "I think the Vertical-eyed Bronze Mask has an implied meaning of a clairvoyance, so we too need to look further afield to the wider world, just like this cultural relic, and pass on and promote Sichuan culture, so that more people can understand our beloved Sanxingdui."

“三星堆有三千多年的历史，竹子也一直伴随我们的发展，把三星堆和竹子这两个四川重要的文化名片组合在一起就已经有一万年的历史了。“陈岚认为三星堆不仅是一个时期文化的体现，也是中华民族智慧的一个展现。

He also added: "Sanxingdui has a history going back more than 3,000 years, and bamboo has accompanied our developmentfrom that timetill today. If we combine Sanxingdui with bamboo, two important cultural representatives of Sichuan, we can find that they have a history of some 10,000 years!" In Chen Lan's eyes, Sanxingdui reflects both the culture of one historical period and the timeless wisdom of the Chinese nation.
