China’s Mega Projects: Unveil Sichuan’s Solar Power Base

A myriad of solar panels on the Dinggong prairie with an altitude of 4,000 m is constantly converting solar energy into electricity.

The photovoltaic empirical research base project in Zhengdou Township, Xiangcheng County, Ganzi Prefecture, is the world’s first ultra-high altitude photovoltaic empirical research base.

After completion, the annual output of the project will reach 774 million kWh.

It can save 238,000 tons of standard coal and reduce 650,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Sichuan's solar energy resources that are technologically exploitable amount to 85 million kW, ranking first in China.

By 2025, the total installed capacity for solar power in Sichuan province will reach 12 million kW.

And it will reduce carbon emissions by 320 million tons within 30 years.
