As their name suggests, winter jujubes mostly grow mature in the early and middle October. Some improved varieties come into the market in August so that people can have them in summer.

Winter jujubes are nutritious, containing rich amino acid, vitamin, various microelements such as potassium, sodium, iron, cuprum, etc. and natural anti-cancer substance including cyclic adenosine monophosphate and cyclic guanosine monophosphate, etc. They are regarded as the "king of fruits" and "natural vitamin".

However, as the winter jujubes contain large quantities of dietary fiber which will cause stomachache if people take in too much. Therefore, people should be careful about the amount.
