Navel oranges were developed from Brazilian sweet oranges in 1820. They were introduced to China in the early 20th century. Navel oranges are being produced from over 100 countries and regions including the USA, Brazil, etc. The major producing areas of navel oranges in China are in Sichuan, Hubei, Jiangxi and other provinces. In Sichuan, there’re mainly Leibo navel oranges, Linshui navel oranges, Jintang navel oranges.

Navel oranges are not only tasty and nutrient, but also with great economic value. The fruits can be used to squeeze juice, the flowers can be used to make tea, and the leaves and branches can be used to extract essential oil.

The navel oranges with darker skin usually hold more vitamin and taste sweeter. The thin-skinned navel oranges are usually more juicy while those with hard skin are less tasty.
