Located in Leshan City, the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area has been listed as World Cultural and Natural Heritage together with Mount Emei.

Also known as Lingyun Buddha, it sits at the confluence of Dadu River, Qingyi River and Min River. With a height of 71 meters, it is the largest cliff stone carving statue in China.

The well-known Confluence is spectacular but dangerous with treacherous beaches, leading to accidents historically. In the early year of Kaiyuan of Tang Emperor Xuanzong (713 AD), Zen master Haitong initiated the construction, but passed away before it was completed. It took totally 90 years to finally complete it in 803 A.D..

The three rivers have flowed for more than 1200 years, and the Leshan Giant Buddha has stood firm through winds and rains, giving passing boats the courage to fight against any difficulties. The civilization of human beings has also been passed down there.
