You may have come cross these mysterious and beautiful flowers when you travel to a highland. The bluish violet flowers sway along the breeze as if they are smiling to the travelers.

They are Iris Bulleyanas whose blue or violet flowers are shaped like dancing butterflies or the birds' tails.

The Iris family contains 225 types and 58 of them are in China, distributing in Southwestern, Northwestern and Northeastern region. They not only look beautiful, but also have a romantic name: Iris in Greek and English, referring to Iris, the rainbow Goddess in Greek mythology. As its name suggests, Iris contains almost all the colors we humans can see, just like the embodiment of the rainbow Goddess.
