Mengding Mountain: A Cradle of Chinese Tea Culture

    MengdingMountain, or Meng Mountain is located in the transitional area between Yucheng district and Mingshan district of Ya'an city. It's a home to Chinese tea industry and tea culture as its altitude, soil and climate are good for tea leaves' growth. In the Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-A.D. 24), Wu Lizhen, the founder of Mengding Mountain tea started to plant the tea trees and embarked the history of tea tree cultivation.

    Mengding Mountain lies from the Northeast to the Southwest, with the northern part higher and southern part lower. The mountain is about 10 kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide. There're five peaks: Shangqing, Lingjiao, Piluo, Jingquan, and Ganlu, arranging in the shape of a lotus. Shangqing peak at the altitude of 1456 meters is the highest peak of Mengding Mountain.
