Let Yi's culture known by the world

Qumu Shiwu, a post-90s girl from Sichuan who was born after 1990s, uploaded a short video about the lacquerware of the Yiethnicgroup. The colorful handiwork and craftsman's smooth movements attracted hundredthousands of viewers.
She has taken over 300 short videos like this in the past five years. "As a Yi ethnic, I wish more people to learn about and fall in love with Yi's lacquer which is a precious cultural treasure of our nation."
Growingup in a lacquerware factory, Qumu Shiwu has not only learnt to make lacquerware, but also fell in love with it. She studied design in college and started the brand "Yisancai"at her hometown after graduation to promote the local culture.
In 2017, she realized that the colors of Yi's lacquerware looked attractive in the videos. "I decided to promote our Liangshan's local food and natural scenery through the lacquerware."She started to make short videos.
In 2020, her videos became popular on the internet, arousing people's interest in Yi's lacquerware. What's more, people nationwide started to visit her to learn the skills.
The lacquerware's elaborate craftsmanship enables the local craftsmen to get new job opportunities. "I've employed the craftsmen to make the embryo, paint the lacquer, and add the color. They can earn more and some of them have bought the houses in the town."
Qumu Shiwu has a big ambition: not only to inherit Yi's lacquerware craftsmanship, but also to embrace the modern society and to innovate.
She does not limit herself to Yi's lacquerware, instead, she has been attempting to promote Liangshan's food, scenery, culture, customs, etc. She has posted the videos about the cooking process of Chuanxing bean jelly, Duanya meat, Mutongshan roasted potatoes and otherfood, which has been popular on the internet overseas.
"Our lacquerware culture has been favored by oversea viewers. I wish that more people worldwide would learn about Yi's lacquerware and Yi’s culture."
