    If you are asked to describe Sichuan flavour, what adjective will you use? Spicy, right?

    Spicy is absolutely the keyword in Sichuan. That’s why the delicacy we introduce today, is COMMON but also SPECIAL.

    You must have heard or tried dumplings, as a renowned Chinese delicacy. But in Sichuan, there is a representative kind of dumpling. It’s a must-try!

    It’s called Zhong’s Jiaozi, and the dumplings are the perfect combination of spicy and sweet flavour! Originated in 1893, Zhong's Jiaozi is a traditional special snack in Chengdu, and gets the name as the surname of its founder is Zhong.

    It is also called “Lichi Alley Dumplings” since the address of its first restaurant was in Litchi Alley. The most famous varieties of this restaurant were Jiaozi in Chili Oil and Jiaozi in Clear Soup, whose stuffing is all pork, without adding any fresh vegetables. That’s also why they are the first choice for meat lovers!

    The cooked dumplings are distinctive with thin wrappers, exquisite seasonings, tender stuffing and delicate taste and are deeply loved by not only Sichuanese but visitors abroad. The cooking techniques of Zhong' s Jiaozi have been handed down till today, and were included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Sichuan Province in 2011!
