To "cure" the mountain

四川雅西高速石棉段，路过的司机会看到一片突兀的山坡，它裸露黄石，与周围的高山格格不入。石棉县以开采石棉矿命名。矿区停矿后，尾矿处置成了一大难题，威胁生态环境。今年5月，一群人领着一批大车，将一车车客土倾倒在板厂沟，挖土机连夜不停工作。这群给青山“疗伤”的人是谁？

Driving along the Shimian section of the Ya'an expressway in Sichuan, drivers will notice a stark hillside with exposed rocks, contrasting sharply with the surrounding high mountains. Shimian County, named for its asbestos mining, faces a major challenge with waste disposal after the mining activities ceased, posing a threat to the local ecology. In May of this year, a group of people, accompanied by a fleet of trucks, dumped loads of earth into the Banchang Ravine, working tirelessly into the night. Who are these people dedicated to "healing" the green mountains?

为什么要“出诊”？

20世纪50年代，当地揭开了国有开采石棉矿的序幕。50余年来，该矿区为国家基础设施建设和石棉县的经济发展作出了不可磨灭的贡献。

In the 1950s, the local area began state-owned asbestos mining. Over the past half century, this mining area has made an indelible contribution to the country's infrastructure and the economic development of Shimian County.

进入21世纪，随着产业升级，这一功勋矿区逐渐关停。而开采后的矿山遗留尾矿，让本是青色的山坡，成了一片“荒土”，远远望去就像一道扎眼的疤痕。

With the industrial upgradein the 21st century, this prestigious mining area was closed. However, the mining waste has turned the originally green hillsides into a "wasteland", looking like a jarring scar.

2021年10月，国务院同意设立大熊猫国家公园，这一位于国家公园核心区内历史遗留矿山的生态修复工作迫在眉睫。

In October 2021, the State Council approved the establishment of the Giant Panda National Park, making the ecological restoration work of this wastedmining site located in the core area of the national park a pressing issue.

石棉县板厂沟是“大熊猫国家公园(四川雅安片区)历史遗留废弃矿山生态修复示范工程项目”其中一个片区，由四川省地调院华地公司负责，而他们，就是准备给山坡“疗伤”的“地质医生”。

Banchang Ravinein Shimian County is one part of the "Wasted Mine Ecological Restoration Demonstration Project in Panda National Park (Ya'an section, Sichuan)". It is handled by Huadi Company from the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Geological Survey, who have assumed the role of "geological doctors" preparing to "heal" the slopes.

拉回5万多方外地援土

项目负责人王涛表示，石棉矿尾矿与空气结合后会产生对人体有害的物质，所以治理手段的关键是要隔绝尾矿与空气的接触。

Wang Tao, the project leader, stated that asbestos tailings could produce harmful substances when combined with air, so the key to remediation is to isolate the tailings from air.

具体的治疗办法，首先是解决土的问题，原有的矿区被挖空，要填埋阻隔空气接触，就必须从外地调土。为此，项目组从石棉到甘洛方向采购55000方土再拉回来，放到板厂沟，填埋、掩盖。

The specific measure is toaddressthe soil issue. The original mining area is now a void, requiring external soil to fill it to block air contact. Therefore, the project team purchased 55,000 cubic meters of soil from Ganluo.

填盖住尾矿后，要保证泥土覆盖后能种植绿植，项目组还特地采用了“喷播”的方式。喷播机筛选泥土后加入木纤维、草纤维、粘合剂等辅助材料，喷射到表面上。这样泥土能达到生长绿植的标准，也能保证表面的稳定性。

After covering the tailings, to ensure the growth ofplants, the team employs"hydroseeding". They mixes soil with wood fibers, grass fibers, binders, and other auxiliary materials inhydroseeding machine, then sprays it onto the surface. This helps the soil meet the standard forplant growth and ensures surface stability.

让青山重现“青春”

板厂沟修复项目除了生态改造需求，还承担着重要的地质灾害防治功能。该片山地原地貌不规则，坡体不稳定，一旦遭遇暴雨，就有滑坡或泥石流的危害。为了赶在雨季前做好修复，项目组加紧采用多种方式，维护该区域的灾害防治工程。

In addition to ecological transformation, the Banchang Ravinerestoration project also plays a crucial role in preventing geological disasters. The original terrain in the area is irregular and the slope is unstable, prone to landslides or mudslides in heavy rain. To finish the restoration before the rainy season, the project team is expediting various methods to maintain the disaster prevention engineering in the area.

王涛表示，此次对板厂沟的修复，是大熊猫国家公园生态保护的一个缩影。通过废弃矿山治理，从源头消除对以大熊猫等旗舰生物生存环境的胁迫因子，修复大熊猫国家公园周缘地区生态环境。

Wang Tao pointed out that the restoration of Banchang Ravineis a microcosm of the ecological protection in thePanda National Park. By managing the wasted mines, they are eliminating the threat to the habitat of flagship species like the panda, and restoring the ecological environment of the peripheral areas of thePanda National Park.

按照施工计划，修复后的矿山将打造成“大熊猫+”元素的城镇公共活动空间，以新的姿态示人。

According to the construction plan, the restored mine will be transformed into a public activity space themed "Panda+", presenting itself in a new light.
