Embark on a captivating exploration of Chengdu's burgeoning technological landscape

Situated at the heart of the Chengdu-Chongqing development spine and serving as a vital connection zone for Chengdu, Deyang, Meishan, and Ziyang, the Chengdu Eastern New Area emerges as a dynamic catalyst for the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. It not only facilitates the urban integration of these 4 cities but also ignites new economic development, embodying the visionary concept of a park city. From May 16th to 17th, the reporter from SICC visited the construction of Tianfu International Circuit, the investment center of International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu China, CAAC Science & Technology Innovation Demonstration Zone, Chengdu City of Future Medicine, Sancha Lake, Longquan Mountain Urban Forest Park Danjing Viewing Platform, etc.

    Tianfu International Circuit

The Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit project, with a total investment of approximately RMB 3 billion, is designed in accordance with the FIA Class 1 standard and is the first in China to present a European-style circuit and a ring circuit in the same project. Once completed, the project will boast a multitude of functions, ranging from exhilarating racing competitions to immersive car consumption experiences and interactive entertainment, creating a new business model of track+ in China and an innovative multi-level and deeply integrated car consumption scenario of the whole industry chain.

When completed, the Tianfu International Circuit will serve as an important venue for Chengdu to become a world-famous event city. As a modern track facility, the Tianfu International Circuit will be able to attract a wide range of domestic and international sporting events such as car, motorbike, cycling and running races.

In addition to event viewing, the Tianfu International Circuit can also provide driving experiences, karting tracks and other facilities to offer a diverse range of entertainment options. Additionally, it can also provide a platform for testing and showcasing electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies, promoting the development of sustainable transport and energy solutions.

CAAC Science & Technology Innovation Demonstration Zone

CAAC Science & Technology Innovation Demonstration Zone is located in Chengdu Tianfu International New Aerotropolis, the new district in Chengdu Eastern New Area. Wu Honggang, Chief Engineer of the Second Institute of Civil Aviation, introduced that the Demonstration Zone, as the first CAAC Science & Technology Innovation Demonstration Zone in China, will fundamentally improve the basic conditions for scientific research in China's civil aviation and gradually form a project cluster with aviation characteristics and covering the complete industrial chain, becoming a "wisdom valley" for the development of China's civil aviation industry.

According to the introduction, the CAAC Science & Technology Innovation Demonstration Zoneproject has a total investment of 10.63 billion yuan, with a construction site of 1,721 mu, to be built in two phases. The demonstration zone will be the first set of climate wind tunnel for 10-metre wingspan UAVs and light aircraft to conduct special environmental experiments in China. The climate wind tunnel will replicate a variety of natural environments during the operation of the aircraft. In addition, the demonstration zone will build the first flight platform and simulation environment for external rotorcraft operations in civil aviation in China, as well as the first fire prevention research and airworthiness platform in Asia that can achieve 1:1 replication of combustion scenarios.

Wu highlighted that the CAAC Science & Technology Innovation Demonstration Zone project is currently underway, with a remarkable endeavor to construct the world's sole simulated airport built to the exacting standards of a 4E class airport. The simulated airport will be built with a 1200m long simulated runway, 2 taxiways, 4 technology verification buildings such as terminal and aviation materials, and 4 verification fields such as deicing and station apron.
